Small Business Directory 2018-19 | Page 2

ALLISON R. KOKKOROS Chief Executive Officer One year ago in response to student requests we launched a new Small Business and Entrepreneurship Program. Under the leadership of Raul Medrano and with the support of Angela Neira, our school has supported 135 participants in the Small Business Workshop Series that serve immigrant populations from all of Latin America, Africa, and Asia, by helping them develop their business ideas and concepts. Thus far, 13 participants have received micro-loans from Life Asset and LEDC ranging from $1,500 to $25,000. In addition, the program provides support in writing business plans, creating social media strategies, promoting their business, positioning for and accessing micro loans, registering businesses, and forming a network of mutual support. This directory is a sampling of some of our Small Business Program participants. We invite you to support these local minority owned small businesses the next time you need catering services, photography services, event planning support, cleaning services, landscaping services, or a special artisan handmade gift! To learn more about this program or to refer a friend, contact Raúl Medrano at [email protected] or at (202) 797-4700, ext. 235. Sincerely,
