Teachers’ Day Celebration The Teachers' Day is observed in the nation on 5 th of September to commemorate Dr. Radhakrishnan. PDPU celebrates this day by felicitating some renowned teachers who have made a great impact in society and academia. School of Liberal Studies coordinated the event for Teachers' Day celebration of 2017. Academicians and scholars from various elds were felicitated. Dr. H L Trivedi a legendary gure in the eld of medical science and transplantation science who founded Institute of Kidney Diseases & Research Centre and Dr. H. L. Trivedi Institute of Transplantation Sciences, a Padma Shri, Sri Mansukh Salla former principal of Lok Bharti, Sanosara and eminent academician of Gandhian philosophy who is also a known literary gure, Prof. Anjana Vyas a pioneer in the eld of Urban Development and Geomatics education and former dean at CEPT, Mr. Saumya Joshi a young iconic gure and renowned theatre artist and script writer of Bollywood were felicitated for their immense and impactful contribution to education, research, arts and society at large. Dr. Nigam Dave the Director of School of Liberal Studies gave the welcome address where he stressed the role of School of Liberal Studies and Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University at large in bringing about a revolution in the eld of education. He also stressed that because of the efforts of the teachers and students of PDPU, it has gone to international level and is on the path of getting more and more recognitions worldwide. The Director General of PDPU, Dr. T. K. Reddy presented the teachers with a shawl and a scroll written in their honour. The Director General also stressed the importance of teachers for national building and motivated the teachers to carry out research and indulge in knowledge creation. Prof. N R Dave the advisor to PDPU graced the occasion and inspired everyone for the programme. The guests enlightened the audience on various aspects. Dr. H L Trivedi's speech which was read out talked about the importance of research, dedication and working for making a change. He also told how good institutes can make impact in education and society. Shri Manukhbhai Salla talked about the importance of Literature and Humanities at large in education. He stressed the importance of studying humanities for all branches. He also talked about the children education because it is instrumental in shaping the society. Prof. Anjana Vyas talked about the essential qualities of a good teacher and the challenges a teacher faces. She advised students and faculties to take up projects, eld work etc. for the cause of 4
