INTERNSHIPS AND WORKSHOPS
Every year to enrich students learning experience SLS, PDPU encourages internship in
applied areas. For Academic year May –June 2017 Department of Psychology facilitated
Internship in various applied areas.Dr. Ajay Chauhan, Medical Superintendent and Dr.
Darshna Singh, Clinical Psychologist Hospital of Mental Health, Ahmedabad, Dr. Rajendra
Anand, Medical Superintendent, Kanoria De-Addiction Centre, Ahmedabad facilitated as
external mentor and guide for the internship. Dr. Ritu Sharma, HOD Psychology SLS
facilitated as Internal Mentor for summer Internship.
Internship at Kanoria hospital and research center
Shimony Agrawal, Sneha Sadana, Vidhi Dodia (Batch 2015) and Himja Trivedi (Batch
2014)completed their summer internship from 22 nd May to 17 th June 2017 at the De-addiction
Centre in Kanoria Hospital. The internship helped them gain practical experience in the eld of
Clinical Psychology. Major part of the internship included observing patients of addiction;
taking their case history as well as interacting with them. The internship focused on learning
the concepts of alcoholism in depth. In addition to this, they understood treatment plan,
counseling sessions plan, group session format and medicines given to patients for
alcoholism.
Internship at Hospital of Mental Health, Shahibaug
Hrutvija Trivedi, MeenoniDaga, Shreya Sheth, Simran Bhatia and Vanishka Ahuja (Batch
2014) completed 26 dayssummer internship, from 29 th May to 23 rd June'17, at Hospital of
Mental Health, Shahibaug, Ahmedabad. The internship provided an insight into the eld of
clinical psychology. It included observation of how the psychiatrists and clinical psychologists
worked on the treatment of the patients and the general working of the hospital. It also involved
interacting with patients suffering from different psychological disorders and taking their case
history. The students also visited the school for children with learning disabilities located in the
premises of the hospital which was very different experience than adult psychiatric patients.
Sharon Kutty, B.A.Hons (Batch 2014). (Psychology) underwent observer ship in Schieffelin
Institute of Health – Research & Leprosy Centre, Karigiri from 23rd to 29th May, 2017. She had
also done an observership in Christian Medical College & Hospital in the Department of
Palliative Care from 2nd to 8th June, 2017 and in Developmental Pediatrics Unit from 12th to
21st June, 2017. She had also
attended
a Trauma Counseling workshop - ALIVE Facilitator's

Training Level 2 from 9 to 11 June, 2017held by Transform4life: Creating Caring
Communities.

Shachi Barot, PhD Scholar, Psychology at SLS has attended 5 days Rorscharch Inkblot
Technique workshop by Dr. DwarkaPershad, from 22nd to 26th June, 2017, organised by
Department of Psychology, Gujarat University.

and Anti Plagiarism on 6th & 7th April, 2017 at INFLIBNET center, Infocity, Gandhinagar,
Gujarat.
