Sansaad main Samvaad Sansad main samvaad was held on 23rd August, 2016 in D Block, LTC-1 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. SPPG and Department of Public Policy & Administration offered the students a chance to experience and be a part of the Mock Parliament in the form of the event Sansad Main Samvaad. The purpose of the event was: 1. To make the students understand the Parliamentary procedures. 2. To explore the current political scenario and social issues in the country. The event ran through the parliamentary procedure in three parts wherein the participants were divided into 2 categories namely: 1. Ruling Party which included Prime Minister and other ministers. 2. Opposition Party which included the leader of opposition and other members. PROCEEDINGS OF THE EVENT The event began at 3:00 pm sharp at the designated venue. Dr. Divi Sriram briefed the participants about the event and the rules. He also introduced the dignitaries present at the event. Mr. Manoj Sahoo was the appointed Speaker for the mock parliament. Dr. Chaitanya Vyas and Dr. Anurag Srivastava presided over as the event judges. The Prime Minister in the mock Parliament were Mr Sarjeet Narendrakumar. The Question hour was started by Honorable Speaker, Mr. Manoj Sahoo at 3:10 pm. The opposition party posed questions addressed to the Prime Minister regarding four main social issues which are as follows: · Internal Security. · Political Ethics. · Foreign Relations. · Youth and Sports. After the ruling party duly answered all the questions raised by the opposition, the parliament was given a 10 minute break by the honorable speaker, Mr. Manoj Sahoo. At 4:00 pm, after the hiatus, a parliamentary debate was held concerning the topic "India: Religious politics and religious unrest." A slight chaos was observed during this debate, which was meritoriously handled by the Honorable speaker. The debate was concluded at 4:40 pm after which the parliament was adjourned. The event ended with prize distribution. 34
