For the cover of this issue- which we have dubbed the “Fake Fall” issue- I am hoping to appear cozy
and fall-y in my sweater dress & hot cocoa. This is all a lie. I was actually wearing a tank top & shorts
underneath, and the baristas at Bello Mundo put an iced drink in a hot cup for me to fake it for you
all. Just looking at that photo gets me all chilly- and then I remember it’s 90 degrees outside in October, and I forget what chilly feels like.
“Fall is my favorite time of the year” has been a basic babe’s mantra for as long as chunky sweaters
have been in style, but we all are really, really, actually attached. In fact, next week I’m flying to Seattle for the sole purpose of experiencing a season. (And to visit family but that’s secondary, really.)
Big things happen in the fall: my Fall Photo Off compteition (being the biggest, of course), the leaves
change, we get to drink PSLs, we start school (or we realize we are truly done with school!), I turn a
year older & we start counting down the days until Christmas.
It may feel like summer outside, but nothing is stopping me from doing all of those things. So during
this fake fall, I encourage you to fake it til you make it. I encourage this all the time, really, but if we
collectively protest and wear boots and juggle pumpkins, I think somehow the weather will catch up
to us.
IN THE MEAN TIME, enjoy flipping through the beautiful photos I have for you this month. And of
course, vote for Fall Photo Off because, really, FPO makes fall my favorite time of the year.
