It is a cool morning. There is the smell of the earth, grass, soil and the sounds and colours of sunrise on your land. With crops stretching to the horizon, you know every inch of it. It is your bread and butter and you need to make it efficient and viable in an ever-changing landscape of agricultural technologies and demands. Use less water, use less fertiliser, and use less pesticide and return higher yields. In fact the less you can add to the process, balanced with the highest possible yields is what you aim for every day. Keep your costs low and profits high.

Farming has become a big data opportunity, and turning every square meter into a pixel of data that can be stored and compared over time is going to give you an advantage over those who, well let’s just say, do it the old way. The more you know about the land that feeds you and millions, the better you can compete against nature, weather and the other country selling the same produce for less.
