R ight after the divorce was finalized , I told myself that if I got any extra money that I was going to randomly go to London . I was told ( by him ) that I was never going to go anywhere without him ... Allah ( God ) blessed me and I kept my promise .
I was afraid . Alone . No international calling . And very little money . All I wanted to do was to prove something . The Eat . Pray . Love trip turned out to be full of modelling and meeting up with people . I went on a little coffee date with an Italian guy . I met amazing bloggers and business owners and editors . Then I flew to Paris for a literal overnight trip .
When I landed , the locals were mean . I was going off 2 hours of sleep . My knees and ankles were swollen and my back sore from toting my entire life in a large backpack . I hadn ’ t eaten a meal in two days . But , I was there . On the bus , I said to myself : you are a Detroit girl in Paris about to shoot with a world-renowned model and photographer . Do . Not . Fuck . This . Up ! You ’ ve got something to prove .
