BEING REFFERED TO AS A PLUS MODEL VS CURVY MODEL :
“ It doesn ’ t really bother me when someone says I ’ m a plus size model . I mean , why should it ? Plenty of plus models that were pioneers in the industry before my time fought to be recognized as models in the first place , so how could I have an issue with that ? I ’ m not consumed by labels ; they bring so much responsibility to nonsense . I think it ’ s important to just respect the person and the craft , no matter what size . Call me curvy , plus , fat ... doesn ’ t make me any difference . I ’ m a model at the end of the day and I love it .”
WHY DO YOU MODEL ?
“ Like I tell all the young girls and women who ask me how to get into modeling ; why ? Why do you want to be a model ? Separate the glitz and glam of being in front of a camera and what do you have left ? I started modeling because I had been asked so many times to do it , but what ’ s kept my craft consistent is the talent and skills I ’ ve learned along the way . Fashion and writing are my first loves , so by infusing those two , with becoming a good model has allowed me to progress into a business woman . I blog for my own website , can style , can be an MUA on set , and I ’ m even educated in fashion marketing from school , so I like helping beginning brands . I love to help people . I feel the desire to be there always for someone ; like a big sister . So , I want modeling to provide a platform to be a positive face of major clothing brands to help uplift people . I want people to resonate me with clothing brands and think “ Now that ’ s what we ’ ve been waiting for ”. I want to start foundations for women to become leaders themselves . We need more good in this world . Being in front a camera makes me feel beautiful , but off camera ; building my brand makes me feel powerful .
THE BODY ISSUE ADVICE :
“ Your body is yours . That ’ s it . No questions asked . By loving it , you will take care of it and by taking care of it , confidence will always be present . There is no specific way to be , even though media tells you otherwise . Own it . It will take time , but there is no better time than right now . If no one has told you yet today ; you my love , are BEAUTIFUL .”
