Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion

By Danielle Hadley

Summer is here and that means there ’ s a whole new set of skin issues pushing their way to the top of my ‘ must fix ’ list . Aside from the obvious prioritising of sunscreen and finding a moisturiser that will mattify my increasingly greasy face , there is the previously ignorable issue of rough and bumpy skin on my arms . These small hard lumps happen when the hair follicles become clogged with dead cells and keratin , leading to a red and raised bump under the skin . This condition is keratosis pilaris but it ’ s amusingly referred to as ‘ chicken skin ’, so if you are struggling to picture it , just imagine a freshly plucked hen . If , like me , you dread the first few sleeveless days of a heatwave due to the exposure of this bumpy arm skin , don ’ t ditch all your summer tops for long-sleeves and cardigans . Get the Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion .

There ’ s a reason I regret ditching this product when winter rolls around , before quickly reverting back to it weeks later , and that ’ s because it ’ s the best thing for smoothing out rough skin . It manages to be both brutally effective yet incredibly gentle thanks to its clever formula ; it uses mild AHA Lactic Acid to exfoliate blocked follicles and remove excess cells alongside nourishing Sweet Almond Oil which ensures the skin stays supple and soft instead of dry and flaky . Aside from instantly making bumpy skin feel a whole lot silkier , it also works around the clock to encourage healthy cell renewal and better moisture retention , so that the texture of the skin continues to improve long after the initial application .
When deciding where this body lotion sits on the scale of texture , from very thick balms to ultra-light milks , this one sits somewhere in the middle . It ’ s incredibly light and thin in consistency – almost serum-like – but takes a bit of effort to massage into the skin , so be prepared to spend a little extra time on your post-shower skin care routine . A small amount goes a long way and as you smooth it into the skin , it takes on a slightly oily texture that feels pleasantly soft instead of sticky . The next thing to mention is the scent . Yes , it ’ s quite strong and isn ’ t to everyone ’ s taste , but I rather enjoy it and within a few hours it has all but disappeared anyway . However , Ameliorate do offer a fragrance-free version of this product if the idea of a heavily scented lotion turns you off .
After just a few days , I could definitely feel a difference in my skin and after four weeks , my arms felt significantly softer and smoother . So I am going to make a promise to myself : instead of ditching this body lotion as soon as I think my keratosis pilaris is cured , I ’ m going to stick with it long-term because if the results are this good after a few weeks , imagine how amazing they will be in six months ’ time ?
