PRODUCT REVIEW GLO SKIN BEAUTY RENEW SERUM By Danielle Hadley N o matter how extensive, how well thought out or how committed you are to your skin care routine, there are times when certain products just don’t work for you anymore. I experienced that recently, when one of my favourite overnight treatments simply stopped producing results and my skin started to plateau. I no longer woke up to a clearer, firmer complexion so, once the bottle was empty – even though a product no longer rocks my world, I still hate waste! – I embarked on the hunt for something new and exciting to take its place. The search wasn’t easy. My list of requirements is pretty long considering the business I work in, but I eventually stumbled upon the Glo Skin Beauty Renew Serum and haven’t looked back. Now on to my second bottle of the stuff, skin- wise, things couldn’t be better. Thanks to an uncompromising blend of Gly- colic Acid, Retinol and Salicylic Acid (yes, even I was shocked by the number of active scene-stealers in one formula) this serum has managed to nix the most annoying complexion concerns with minimal fuss. Obvious pores seem smaller, old blemish marks and discol- ouration have all but faded away, and rough patches where the skin has become congested due to stress have been evened out. It’s even made my skin feel better. It’s soft and smooth, and now has a satisfyingly cushion-like plumpness that I usually only enjoy after packing on the Hyaluronic Acid. But surely a serum that con- tains three of the most popular exfoliating ingredients is going to leave the skin dry, tight and flaky? Not so. After starting off with bi-weekly applications in the evening, my skin can now tolerate nightly use and I haven’t ex- perienced any of the usual side effects that come with using such potent actives. No redness, no noticeable sensitivity, and no dryness. It’s amazing! Now for the bad news; this serum won’t be for everyone and I can’t guarantee a reaction-free journey for all skin types. If you have oily, acne-prone or mature skin, this will work wonders for you. Anyone else will need to opt for something less intensive or, if you must try it to see what all the fuss is about, use it no more than twice a week and follow with a rich overnight moisturiser to counteract any tin- gling or dehydration. And, as with any product that contains resur- facing agents, remember to apply a sunscreen the following morning to keep your skin protected and healthy. Plateau? What plateau… ISSUE #05 | 2017 | SkinHealthMagazine.com 36
