OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Blemish Treatment ( AM + PM )
If you struggle with pimples , apply a Salicylic Acid-based gel directly onto any offending pimples between your serum and moisturiser steps .
Facial Oil ( AM or PM )
Most skin types can benefit from a facial oil , whether used as an extra layer of nourishment or to replace a moisturiser , but its place in your routine can vary . If you have oily skin , use it before or instead of a moisturiser and for dry skin , apply it after moisturiser and before sunscreen . In the evening , apply it after serum and finish your routine there .
Retinoids ( PM Only )
Due to their ability to make the skin sensitive to the sun , only apply Retinol or Vitamin A treatments in the evening . Avoid applying them every night , unless you are a seasoned user , to prevent extreme dryness and irritation .
Neck Creams ( AM + PM )
Only for those who are seriously concerned about the changing texture and elasticity of ageing skin on the neck , apply a neck cream using firm and sweeping upward motions , working from the chest up to the jawline .
WEEKLY TREATS
Exfoliator ( AM or PM )
The ritual of removing the dead layer of cells from the surface of the skin can be traced back to the Egyptians and it is just as important today . To avoid sensitivity , thinning of the skin and inflammation , exfoliate no more than three times a week , unless using a low dosage product . AHAs are quicker and more effective , but scrubs are great if rough texture is a problem .
Face Mask ( PM )
Due to the nature of a face mask and the fact that you need to leave it on the skin for a prolonged period of time , it is better to use them as part of your evening routine . Whether you want to mattify , plump , hydrate , smooth , brighten , lift or calm the skin , there is a mask for you . To amplify the results of your face mask , try exfoliating the skin first .
