Business A Courageous Leap The stories of two migrants determined to succeed Anthony Kirby Founder of the Authentic Sales & Leadership Academy u AT JUST 20 YEARS OLD, moving from the UK with $200, a suitcase full of ill-fitting clothes and a head full of dreams was a big step for me. I had little in the way of business exposure or experience and I worked hard for my first pay check of $200 (looking at it optimistically, I doubled my initial cash flow very quickly!). My first job in Australia involved working for a local real estate office. I knew I had to learn as much as possible about sales and business fast – and I did. I moved into a sales position soon after, where I was fortunate enough to travel around Australia while making a name for myself as the credible sales guy with red hair. Offers ensued as my profile grew and after a number of lucrative roles within the new home sales industry, I decided that it was time to go it alone. The timing was perfect. My son was six months old, we had a single income and we re-mortgaged the family home so I could take on my new endeavour. At the forefront of my mind was ‘you did it once, you can do it again’. The road so far has been enjoyable, and I have now built a great business helping entrepreneurs and business owners unlock sustainable growth, while having fun with their team.
