The Alexander Technique – An Introduction EBay – An Introduction to Buying and Selling We will explore posture and poise in this introduction to the Alexander Technique – a practical method of self-help in which we learn how to look after ourselves better in daily life, functioning more efficiently and moving, sitting and standing with more poise and less effort. The modules included in the course are: responsibilities of a first aider, basic life saving techniques, care of the unconscious casualty, cardio pulmonary resuscitation, management of bleeding and reporting, recording and management of incidents. Saturday 17/03/18 | 10.00 – 4.00pm Cost: £46.00 (first-aid book included and a complimentary lunch) iPads – An Introduction (This course is only suitable for those with an iPad) This course is designed for those who are new to using an Apple iPad and want to get the most from their device. We will cover the initial set up, basic navigation, browsing the web, email, setting up an Apple ID and downloading apps, taking photographs and lots of other tips and tricks to really help you get full use of your tablet. You will need to bring your iPad with you. The innovative machine sewing and cutting methods are simple enough for a beginner yet precise enough for the most seasoned of quilters. Using fabric remnants you can make a quilt to be proud of without the frustration of the amount of time it traditionally takes to complete. You will need basic IT skills and be able to use a mouse) This is a course for absolute beginners to start your family tree using the Internet and based on English and Welsh records. You will learn how to trace Birth, Marriage and Death records, how to find your relatives on the census and start to look at parish records. Many of the resources we look at are free but you will need a debit/credit card to buy online credits for some sites. Saturday 27/01/18 | 9.45am – 3.45pm Cost: £40.00 (with a complimentary lunch) Latin As an introduction we will identify the principal parts of speech and essential grammar terminology so important for learning any language, but especially Latin. We will also become familiar with Roman numerals and study a number of Latin phrases which occur in English and simple inscriptions. The case system used in Latin and its importance will also be explained and how Latin impacts on modern Romance languages. There will be advice on art materials, step by step demonstrations of the basic techniques of watercolours, colour mixing and how to create a pleasing landscape painting.
