scores for each vehicle determine the category winners.
In early December, the Subaru Legacy 2.5i was named
the Best New Family Car (under $30K), joining 10 other
category winners that automatically moved on in the
competition to be named Canadian Car of the Year. At the
same time, the Subaru Outback 2.5i was announced as the
winner of the Best New SUV-CUV (under $35K) award.
The four finalists for Canadian Car of the Year, including
the Legacy, were announced on January 15 at the 2015

Montreal International Auto Show. The Outback made an
appearance here as well, being named one of the three
finalists for the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year award.
In the past, Subaru vehicles have often featured among the
leading contenders in the AJAC COTY competition. The Subaru
Legacy has now won its category on six different occasions.
The Subaru Forester has two category wins to its name. The
Subaru Outback has now claimed three category wins and
was named Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year in 2010.
