Sin City Presents Magazine May 2016 Volume 3 Issue 5 - Page 27

Welcome to May in Sin City our month to celebrate some of the Women that ROCK in our little slice of heaven in the desert! There are so many wonderfully talented women in our local entertainment industry deciding who to feature this month was overwhelming to say the least. However, there was one woman whose name came up in several conversations as we were planning this issue…. That name…Cian (pronounced like "Sean") Coey!!

Currently this sultry songstress sings with MEAT LOAF, and is one of the powerhouse female lead vocalist for the #1 Show on the Las Vegas Strip “Raiding the Rock Vault” at the New Tropicana Las Vegas, a role she shares two weeks a month with Stephanie Calvert (Starship). As with so many other successful artists in Las Vegas just two gigs isn’t enough to fill the need to perform. Cian is also the vicious little vixen that fronts two of Las Vegas’ favorite local cover bands, BRAZEN and Rock This Town.

Hot off a U.S. and Canadian tour with MEAT LOAF we thrilled we were able to catch up with her.

Cian joined The Neverland Express, MEAT LOAF’s touring band in 2014 and performed in their Rocktellz and Cocktails Las Vegas show. She'll be back on the road with MEAT LOAF again this summer. Her featured songs in the show are "Dead Ringer for Love", "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That), and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". You can look forward to hearing Cian on the upcoming MEAT LOAF, “Braver than We Are”, set to be released in September of this year.

I absolutely fell in love with Cain’s powerful on-stage presence the first time I saw her perform with Doc’s Angels. Her vocal rang is extraordinary! No auto-tune necessary for this chick that rocks! Born to perform she began studying dance at the age of two and fell in love with performing. By the time she was ten in addition to her dance studies in ballet, tap, jazz and acro, Cian started performing in local theatre show and vocal competitions. From there she was totally hooked this would be her path in life and she added voice and acting classes to her schedule. With unconditional support from her family including Mom making her costumes and dad joining her on stage in a couple of theater shows, Cian has been able to follow her passion beginning at a very young age and hasn’t looked back.

Her first professional theatre show in junior high school, playing a Munchkin and Flying Monkey (yes, she got to fly!!) in the Pittsburgh CLO production of THE WIZARD OF OZ. From there she went on to be cast in over twenty local theatre shows by the time she was accepted to the University of Michigan, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Musical Theatre.

So what do you do with your Musical Theatre? You got to New York City of course, after all the song says “if you can make it there you can make it anywhere”. Following graduation she moved to New York City for a short time, where she landed three national tours of the musicals; ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, SOUTH PACIFIC, and SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. "SNF" which eventually got picked up for a six-month run in Las Vegas, following SNF’s closing, she joined the cast of WE WILL ROCK YOU at the Paris Casino.

During WE WILL ROCK YOU’s run, she joined selected fellow classmates to sing on THE TONIGHT SHOW, singing backups for American Idol's Constantine. In 2011 she played Maureen in RENT at Green Valley Ranch Casino in Las Vegas, NV for RagTag Productions and was also sang the Lead Vocalist role in BITE at the Stratosphere Casino also here in Las Vegas, NV.

In 2012 BRAZEN, won the award for “Best Rock Band” at the Vegas Rocks Magazine Awards 2013 was a big year for recording for Cian who was thrilled to be asked by Todd Kerns (bass player for Slash, The Conspirators and our April 2016 cover story) to sing backup on his acoustic album, "Borrowing Trouble", she also appeared on "A Sinner's Christmas 2" album, singing a duet of "Blue Christmas” that year with Sin City Sinner Michael "Doc" Ellis.

In addition to on stage performances Cian has been in a variety of television commercials locally and you can spot her in a print ad for DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN at Harrah’s Casino
