(440 concert pitch)

I hear Ab (Aflat) in my head referencing

Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love

(Van Halen)

Beverly Hills

(Circle Jerks)

I hear (E) by recalling

Good Times Bad Times (Zeppelin), "Born To Be Wild", Fool For The City" & dozens of others.

(C) Holy Diver, Sheena Is A Punk Rocker, Melt With You.

(B) Rebel Yell, Beyond The Realms Of Death.

(F#) Godzilla, Another Thing Coming, RnR Crazy Nights.

(A) No Matter What, Hello There, dozens of others.

(C#) Ladies Night In Buffalo, What Mama Said.

(Eb) Jamie's Cryin, On Fire, Atomic Punk.

(D) Downed, Do Ya.

Any song that I'm familiar with I can recall the key by memory. That's really the trick. Recalling notes by memory.

You may be asking yourself why is this even important? For me it's been very helpful when writing songs. I decide on song keys based on emotion, vibe, moods etc. Having a pool of songs in your memory does that.

As I typed those songs, I could hear the pitch to each of them in my head. Some dark, some happy. Remember that notes are like colors and moods. You'll feel them as you hear them. Have fun!
