High School is tough. You’re trying to figure out what life is about, how to pass that math test, and how to avoid the jerk in gym class. High schools not easy, but it’s damn near impossible when you don’t have a place to sleep at night. In Las Vegas, there are over 6,000 kids that are either homeless or severely disadvantaged.

It’s why Project 150 was created. Their mission is to help homeless and disadvantage high school students in Las Vegas stay in school.

Think couch surfers, living out of a backpack, parents absent or unable to care for them. Many of these kids don’t have the basic necessities that you and I take for granted, clean socks and underwear, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, food, transportation, notebooks, pens, paper. These kids are forced to make the difficult decision to either stay in school and go without, or drop out and get a job in order to take care of themselves.

A future without a high school diploma is not much of a future. If we can get these kids to graduate, their chances of success in life increase exponentially. Project 150 provides these kids free of charge, clothes, food, school supplies, whatever the kids need to make it through. The goal is simple, do whatever it takes to get these kids to graduate. Project 150 is run by an amazing group of dedicated people who currently serve 47 high schools in Las Vegas and 15 high schools in Reno. Beyond the vibrant lights of the Las Vegas Strip and Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas lies a community committed to creating a better life for their families. Some of these families largely depend on the services provided by non-profit organizations to assist them in times of need or to make ends meet.

In an economy that is still strugglig it is vital for organizations to colaborate to meet the needs of the community.

In order for collaborative projects to work their has to be a genuine desire to create change. The partnership must be equitable for all parties regarldless of the type of partnership.

For businesses "cause makreting" can offer many benefits to both the business and the organization. Cause marketing or cause-related marketing refers to a type of marketing involving the cooperative efforts of a “for profit” business and a non-profit organization for mutual benefit.

The term is sometimes used more broadly and generally to refers to any type of marketing effort for social and other charitable causes, including in-house marketing efforts by non-profit organizations. Cause marketing differs from corporate giving (philanthropy) as the latter generally involves a specific donation that is tax deductible, while cause marketing is a marketing relationship not necessarily based on monetary donations.

Cause marketing is a no brainier for small businss

In a study conducted by Cone and Duke University cause marketing is a win-win situation.

79 % of polled consumers said they’d switch brands if the new brand were of similar price and quality and was associated with a favorable cause

42% said they would refer a friend if they found the brand though a charitable partnership, these numbers skew even further towards calls to action among millennials. 35% of those surveyd said that in addition supporting the brand they’d support the cause directly.

How to get started:

First and foremost you have to care about the cause! It has to be the right cause to create the right relationship

Match the cause! If you sell children’s clothing choose a children’s charity, if you sell products, services or merchandise to the entertainment industry choose a charity that supports the arts.

Next, recruit your army! The relationship has to be mutually beneficent, you’re bringing your customers to their cause the organization should have a strong following to bring to your brand. Lead with emotion!

Volunteer your time, talent or services to an organization.

Host a donation drive.

Offer your brick and mortar business a donation drop off location. Shop & Donate at Thrift Stores.

How would you describe your music to someone that has never heard you?

Honestly, Down N Dirty Rock N Roll with an old school Punk Rock Edge

What inspired the name “Baker’s Dozen”? It stemmed from a band Tommy was in called 13, which is 13 of anything is a Baker's Dozen ;)

What was the inspiration for Cake & Chaos?

The inspiration behind the title is we like to have fun and and get a little crazy on stage and through our music.

What’s your most memorable moment on stage? Every show has been memorable thus far, but, when the crowd starts singing the chorus to our songs back to us, there's no feeling like that.

From the scorching desert heat of Las Vegas, NV comes the dirty and dusty rock grooves of Baker’s Dozen.

Having formed in October 2016 with only a few short years under their belts, the band has played multiple national shows and won over a legion of fans in their surrounding hometown area. The band caught the eyes and ears of Pavement Entertainment and was quickly snatched up to join the roster.

Having just finished recording their debut album entitled “Cake & Chaos”, the timing was perfect for Baker’s Dozen to unleash their powerful brand of old school rock and roll with an updated modern twist. Having pulled influences from the likes of The Damned, Guns N Roses, and even Buckcherry, the group is sure to turn the heads of rock fans worldwide.
