About that bass FRITZ O'HARA

You might think that the first person on stage that catches my eye is the lead guitarist or the lead singer but nope for me it’s the Bass Player… for me it’s their personality that sets the tone for everyone else on the stage. This month that Bass is all about Fritz O’Hara… this guy is just not quite wired right which is why I dig him. Oddly enough the Bass is the newest instrument in his repertoire.

We first met Fritz about a year ago with “Electric Dynamite” a band that describes itself as a “new experience in power pop” with a diverse set list that includes everything from the Sex Pistols to Tom Jones… Yes, I said Tom Jones and you’re about to see where that fits in. (wink)

We caught up with Fritz and had the opportunity to learn a little bit more about this incredible entertainer…. Now that we’ve had a chance to get to know him a little bit it all begins to make sense. Let’s see what he has to share with us!

Let’s start at the beginning… How long have you been playing bass guitar and how did you become interested in it?

As far as Bass guitar is concerned, it's the newest instrument to me that I play. I'm a guitarist first and foremost, but have always loved the bass. I've recorded bass tracks over the years on most of what I've done with "Fritz & the Side EffectZ", but actually started playing bass on a full time basis about 3 years ago. Before that, the occasional fill-in gig, a KISS tribute as "the demon", and just plain messin' around was all the bass-playing I've done. It's a whole new world for me and I love it.

You're not a fan of the band if you don't know the
