Sin City Presents Magazine August 2017 Volume 4 Issue 8 - Page 53

Then the wait for Maiden… the crowd is tense with anticipation and it was super hot down in front. I was worried that the crowd might do the two mighty pushes when “Doctor Doctor” comes on but to my amazement, people were cool. Just a couple of kids were going nuts, but we older fans gave them the “LOOK” and they chilled out. Then the band just explodes onstage with “Eternity Should Fail” off the new Book of Souls album and straight into “Speed of Light” which is a fast paced song and the crowd started to go a little crazy! The band sounds amazing and Bruce is all over the place, messing with Janick at times and ripping the heart out of Eddie’s chest, all the while singing his effing ass off! I was so close to Steve Harris as he would come up to us and nod his head in agreement with the fans up front going bat shit crazy for him! Janick was on our side the whole show putting on his own show, throwing the guitar around, playing tag with Eddie and stretching his legs on the monitors. He would smile at us and he even gave me the bunny ears, which was so funny. I love Janick, I don’t care what anyone says, I think he is entertaining as hell and a cool guy. I even got eye contact with Bruce at one point and I yelled: “YOU… yeah YOU!!” at him, and he just had a big grin on his face for me. Made my metal heart burst with joy!

This show was basically the same show as last year, same set list without “Hallowed be Thy Name.” (Because of some lawsuit) The same stage and stuff they do. It’s the second leg, that’s what they do. But like Bruce said, after this tour, this stage will be retired. “Book of Souls” is done. Onto a new album and new tour next time, after they get a break I’m sure. Iron Maiden is one of the hardest working bands in the world and I hope they keep doing what they are doing as long as they can. I know we don’t have a lot of years left with some of our fave metal bands, so we should be happy and blessed that they are still touring and making great new music. These guys deserve all the respect in the world for what they have accomplished.

I survived the front and had an absolute blast! It was just incredible! You have to see this band up close, the energy they exude is palpable. Especially when you get eye contact! That my friends, is worth the price of admission and the price of braving the pit/barricade!!!

“Iron Maiden gonna get you, no matter how far!!”
