When do you ideally like to take photos of a newborn? I like for newborns to be under 2 weeks old. At this stage, the baby is still sleeping the majority of the day and they are easier to get into a position. Please tell us more about birth photography. When I say I do ‘birth photography’, I usually get a crazy look or get asked why I would want to do something like that. Some are slightly uncomfortable with the thought of someone being in the room at possibly the most vulnerable moment in a woman’s life. In all actuality, it is quite the opposite. I am there to capture the little details that you forget about later on. The time on the clock, the look on her husband’s face when told she’s fully dilated, the pain of labor, and of course the joy of birth. I love how each story is so different from beginning to end. When booking a client I do a meet-and-greet to find out their birth plan; water birth, natural delivery, with/without epidural, or cesarean section. I am on-call from the time you book me until the time the baby is delivered, not your average 9-5 job! I love every minute of what I do; to say it is amazing is an understatement!
