Lawrence Spivey always had a passion for fashion. He was introduced to it by his mother. When he was young, he accompanied her when she went to consignment and thrift shops. Lawrence was amazed by what pieces you could coordinate together for very little. Shopping in these places was a pastime for his mother. She enjoyed finding stylish pieces at great bargains. Lawrence was born in Raleigh, North Carolina but spent most of his childhood in Providence, Rhode Island. He was exposed to fashion up North which consisted of coastal, preppy and Ivy League styles. The men generally dressed in cuffed pants, shirts with button down collars, sweaters, vests and penny loafers. There have been variations to these traditional Ivy League styles. There was a distinct style around Newport , RI and the Martha’s Vineyard area that Lawrence was exposed to. Lawrence returned to North Carolina shortly before graduating high school. He never lost sight of what he gained up North regarding fashion for men. In 2011, Lawrence decided to turn his passion for fashion into a style brand. Sir Byron Laurent Style and Fashion Consulting was born. Lawrence started blogging about fashion and style for men. He would discuss suits, shoes and thrift shopping based on his experiences and what he knew about each subject. He saw a fashion need in the South that he wanted to help fill. Lawrence believed he had the style creativity to help men look more stylish. Also they could find 10 www.simplyelevate.com clothing that actually fit their body type. Sir Byron Laurent Style and Fashion Consulting helps men shop for clothing. Men can also receive tips and resources regarding altering and tailoring pieces to accentuate their body type. Women can also receive consulting to help with their men style needs. There is more to a piece of clothing than just taking it off the rack and wearing it. Lawrence counsels his clients to shop with purpose. His client base consists of friends and people at his church. They always complimented him on his clothing and asking where he shopped for his clothes. He would meet his clients at their homes and other locations to help them with their styling needs. Lawrence also traded and gave away clothes that he no longer wore. Sir Byron Laurent Style and Fashion Consulting has caught the eye of many in the fashion and beauty arena. Blogging about fashion for men caught the attention of fashion stylists from the North and South. He was on the panel at a Curls Gone Wild, which was a natural hair conference , back in May, in Greensboro, N.C. He was answering topics regarding how men view women with natural hair. Lawrence also writes for various style magazines, such as Session magazine which was the first magazine he wrote for. Also he contributes to Charlotte Style, Carolina Style and Emerge. Lawrence has also been featured on My Carolina Today, where he shares his style and fashion tips. There is more in store for Sir Byron Laurent Style and Fashion Consulting. Lawrence is looking forward to launching his brand into more avenues. The first year was the hardest for Lawrence due to being new to blogging and trying to grow his brand. Lawrence advises upcoming fashion stylists to not let people and their opinion limit you. All style is objective but you are responsible for what it represents. He also adds that you are painting a picture. Be who you are and don’t let someone hold you back. A great support system is also important.
