When “The Bishop” is not hard at work on his music or on the road performing and worshiping God, he enjoys spending time with his daughter, Vernitra Slaughter, fiancé, Wynette McClain, family and close friends. It is noteworthy to point out that “The Bishop” is also a bit of a comedian and is usually found to be lifting up the spirits of the oppressed and depressed. Be it with a word that promotes laughter during a regular-everyday conversation or while ministering at a performance. T homas B. Weaver, “The Bishop” is a recording artist whose sultry voice captivates the listener’s Quartet, Gospel and Blues inner man! He is a native of Roanoke, Alabama born October 24, 1981. He is the eldest of 7 children whose parents are Tom Staples, Jr. and Evelyn (Weaver) Staples. Being the son of a preacher and having a strong Christian upbringing, he began singing at the young age of six in the Sunbeam Choir at the East Roanoke Pure Holiness Church of God, where the pastor and overseer was the late Bishop Wade Wright, Jr. “The Bishop” also has a passion and outstanding talent as a musician. A deep desire to play the bass guitar, piano, keyboard, and drums was cultivated while under the leadership of his father at New Beginnings Outreach Ministry. But, by far, singing became his rooted desire! Thomas soon began to imitate and mimic his father’s preaching, praying and worshiping styles. This action gained him the appropriate nickname, “THE BISHOP”. And so, as destiny would have it, Thomas also accepted his calling to preach Thomas has been signed to the label, Anjelica Records, and his 1st CD project titled, “The Bishop’s Live Experience with Three Part Harmony”, is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2013. “The purpose of life is not to be happy.
