Jungle Barbie Julia Story by: Sarah Strader Photography: ML Dixon Photography ulia, also known as Jungle Barbie Julia, is anything but another cookie cutter model just trying to make it in the world of fashion. As her name might suggest, she is a fierce, and accomplished, bomb shell. With a list as long as my arm, some of her talents include, singing, dancing, modeling, acting, writing, designing, and styling; just to name a few. In 2006, Julia earned her stripes from the Barbizon School of modeling, which would change her life forever. Since then, she has gone on to participate in several different pageants where she has won top marks for all of them. She has been featured in magazines, both for writing and modeling; she has participated in hair shows, music videos, and helped designers with their print work. Located in Maryland, she is no stranger to travel; keeping contacts from New York to Chicago and on up into parts of Canada. Julia is currently pursuing a degree in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business and she holds a 3.2 GPA. She has been working on branding her name, Jungle Barbie Julia; she hopes to one day own her own Modeling agency where she can incorporate all of her talents into one business and to help other’s realize their own dreams and make it to the top. If that weren’t enough, she runs a clothing line with her little sister called “Jungle Season,” and she sells cupcakes to boot. The cupcake line is called Little Piece of Cake, but she has been thinking of changing it to Jungle Cakes to keep with the branding. We here at Simply Elevate Magazine got a chance to sit J down with this talented young individual and ask her a few one on one questions. “Just tell everybody where did you get your name from?” –D “I was just called Barbie from middle school. I’ve always loved makeup and hair, and I was really good at it. I loved to make myself look like a Barbie, and make my friends look like Barbie’s. I also always felt that Barbie was that “it” girl.” – JBJ “What does Simply Elevate mean to you?” – D “Simply Elevate means to me, a better way to market myself, to put myself out there on the table for everybody to see. I saw the last issue you did, which was vibrant and really beautiful. I feel like this magazine will accentuate the Jungle Barbie Julia brand. It will put that color and vibrancy out there and show the world that I am up and coming, and that I am trying, and that I am working. It’s good to always have people who are working alongside you, that feel your dreams and your goals.” – JBJ “That’s what we are all about; we are about lifting your dreams along with ours.” – D fashion&style Photographer: Derek Palmer Model: Maketta Wright Makeup Artist: Marquita White 13
