Celebrating Black History Month

Last year, as January was coming to an end, a friend caught me off guard by giving me an impromptu quiz. He asked if I knew
the reasons why we celebrate Black History Month in February. I, in fact, did not know why, and am not sure I had ever truly
considered this question before. Enthusiastically, he proceeded to give me a brief history lesson and challenged me to join him
in spreading this knowledge to all who would listen throughout the next month. Needless to say, I did not spend the entirety
of my February giving spontaneous lectures on why this month was specially selected. !
