Traffic was much less busy than today, and going “for a drive” in the family car or with your date, was a very common pastime. There were country roads to explore and nice quiet parks for a picnic, etc. KooGle Theatre Company would like to hear your STORIES and MEMORIES of Burlington’s historic BRANT INN. In many cities it was common to see a photographer ready to take your photo as you walked down the street. Through him, you could order a copy of the photo to add to your memory bank. Joan and I have one of those photos taken when we were about 18 years of age, out on one of our first dates. Your stories will aid in the research toward creating a memorable musical dedicated to the memory of the famous landmark. In downtown Hamilton there were a wide range of restaurants. One of our favourites was the Chicken Roost located on King Street. Another was the Pagoda Chop Suey House further along King St. at the corner of John St. Sadly both of these restaurants, as many others, are long gone. The City of Burlington’s Arts and Culture Grant contributed funds for this project. Brant Inn “Sky Club” The Chicken Roost Restaurant in Hamilton, opened in 1948 and closed in 1986. Prices were reasonable for an evening’s entertainment. Many of the big bands from the U.S. would come to Canadian cities and for fans of their music, something always seemed to be available. We miss much of the “old days” but I suppose this happens to most generations as time passes. • Our Very Best Wishes to Everyone for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
