SUMMER FOOD LOVIN’!
– By Claire Faver
A fter a seemingly endless winter and a rather unseasonably
cold spring, it’s finally here… Summer is upon us! Chirping
birds, bright days and sunny skies abound. It is indeed hard
not to fall in love with this joyous season.
Get Out There!
There are countless ways to make the most of the summer
months. Get out there and soak up the sunshine and fresh
air while you can!
Browse your local farmer’s market on a Saturday morning
to stock up on fresh, homegrown fruits and veggies. You’ll
have fun connecting with your community and you’ll feel
great knowing that your local grower has harvested the foods
you’re feeding your family.
This is also the perfect time of year to get your hands dirty
and plant your own vegetable garden! Try out an outdoor
yoga class, host a garden party, plan a fishing trip. If you’re a
meat-lover, pay a visit to your local Ribfest and music festivals
or treat yourself to a scenic Niagara wine tour. When it comes
to summer, the entertainment options are truly infinite!
Eat, Drink and Enjoy!
Good food and great company are central to an ideal summer.
Whether it be backyard barbecues with family and friends
or enjoying take-out or delivery from a favourite restaurant
to save time and enjoy the warm weather and more time
with your company, summertime picnics at your favourite
lakeside park, or indulging on s’mores over a campfire on a
warm summer’s night, there’s always reason to eat, drink and
enjoy summer! •
