Furniture Bank is a registered charity & social enterprise
that provides gently used furniture and household goods to
people who have recently transitioned out of homelessness,
women and children escaping abusive situations, and refugees
and newcomers to Canada.
Since 1998, Furniture Bank has been picking up gently used
and clean furniture and other items, then delivering them to
people most in need: Families referred to them by over 80
social service agencies and shelter organizations in Toronto and
surrounding area (From Oshawa through to Hamilton area).
The furniture pick up service is provided for a fee, which
helps to cover the charity’s costs. Since 1998, Furniture Bank
has been able to help over 70,000 individuals and almost
29,000 families.
Some of the accepted items include Dining and Living
Rooms (book shelves, sofas, tables, chairs, lamps), Kitchen
and Housewares (cookware, bakeware, cutlery, artwork, small
area rugs), Electronics (tv’s smaller than 32”, fans, heaters,
stereos, DVD players), Bedroom items (dressers, desks, metal
bed frames, linens) plus clothing of all sizes and for all seasons,
and accessories such as purses, belts, and hats.
