Best plants for indoor health
Did you know plants can actually help to minimize the air
quality risks inside your home? That’s right, plants remove
potent chemicals, leaving cleaner indoor air.
NASA studies have shown that upon plant implementation,
VOCs (volatile organic compounds) can be removed within
four to five days, and furniture off-gases within 24 hours.
Their research recommends having one plant in an 8-inch
diametre pot or larger per 100-150 square feet of indoor space
to improve air quality. These are the top picks:
Peace Lily
Not only is it elegant and
easy to care for as it requires
minimal sunlight, but it can
remove trichloroethylene
(TCE), benzene and
formaldehyde in a room
within 24 hours.
Boston Fern
It has the greatest ability for
removing air pollutants especially formaldehyde, and
for adding humidity to the
indoor environment.
Ficus
It scores high in NASA’s air
purification tests, and also
has a high resistance
to insects.
Areca Palm
Scored even higher than the Ficus
in air purification tests, and releases
copious amounts of moisture into the
air, while removing harmful toxins.
