“The face in the mirror”
May/June 2008
– By Paulette Scheme
Almost 65... Whose is that face in the mirror? What
do people see when they look at me? What is getting
older – getting old? Does it change who I am?
Inside I am vibrant, I am young. I still have a passion
for living, for learning, for loving. Each day brings new
surprises. Perhaps it’s the first kiss of the sun on my face
on a warm summer’s day or maybe it’s the sound of the
cooling rain dripping on the leaves by my window. It
doesn’t matter what people see when they look at me...
I am as young as I feel!
“Holiday Scents”
Nov/Dec 2008
– By Barbara Weiler
All the senses can be memory starters, but the sense of
smell is one of the strongest catalysts for reminiscence.
A specific aroma can produce a flood of memories that
is so intense that it may bring a smile to our lips or tears
to our eyes. Because we encounter most new odours in
our youth, smells often call up childhood memories...
“Nutritious, Delicious... Bugs?”
January/February 2009
– By Suzanne Soto-Davies
“Be your own wellness
detective”
Nov/Dec 2008
– By Alan Geller
Wouldn’t it be great if someone, a doctor, a health care
professional, an alternative health practitioner, anyone,
could tell YOU exactly what you needed to do, and when
you needed to do it so that you could enjoy YOUR best
possible health? Yes, I agree... That would be better than
great, it would be fantastic!
But if you think that’s the way health and wellness
works, you’re in for a big surprise – and not the good
kind. Personal health and wellness just doesn’t work
that way. There is simply no one person, one formula or
one solution that is right for everyone. How do I know?
Because I’m one of those people that needed to be hit on
the head with a very big stick in order to wake up to how
things really worked when it came to personal health...

Jeffrey Stewart’s cooking is his passion... cooking bugs
and insects, that is! Having an extensive knowledge in
gastronomy and being very adventurous, Jeff responded
positively when the challenge presented itself to develop
a menu of ‘insect foods’. “I couldn’t resist, it sounded
just brilliant, as it would give me the chance to use my
creativity, experimenting with the unknown and also a
chance to learn about people from around the world.”
Jeff has concocted a variety of delicacies that range
from tomato stews featuring Mopani Worms, a sweet
potato, squash and coconut curry with Cricket flatbread,
to sugar peanut cookies made with ants!
“Tea: The True Super-Drink”
March/April 2009
– By Bobby Hebert
Tea not properly cleaned is filled with impurities,
foreign and unwanted material such as dust, fibre,
wooden splinters, stone, sand, glass, ferrous particles,
paper, plastics and even dead insects!
Only the young, top two leaves and the unopened
leaf bud of this plant are picked for the production. It
will reach heights of up to 60 feet. Up to 80,000 handplucked shoots are needed to produce one pound of
loose leaf tea.
