POWER OF LEGACY GIVING
Peggy North has been supporting St.
Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation with
annual gifts since 1989, but little did
she know her husband Karl would require
life-saving care years later.
Peggy credits the medical staff at the
Hospital with saving her husband’s life
on at least three occasions. Peggy says
Karl wouldn’t have lived as long as he did
without the exceptional care of the staff
at the Firestone Institute for Respiratory
Health, located at St. Joseph’s Healthcare
Hamilton.
After Karl’s passing, Peggy decided to
plan a legacy gift in gratitude for Karl’s
care by making St. Joe’s the beneficiary
of her RRSP/RRIFs. In Peggy’s words,
“this was a way I could say thanks for
extending Karl’s life and help ensure
others would receive the same excellent
care in the future.”
Directing one’s RRSP/RRIFs to St.
Joe’s is easy and you don’t have to update

Imagine losing some or all of your vision. How
would you tackle daily tasks such as reading your
mail, organizing things around your home or buying
groceries? Having someone to provide sighted
assistance can make all the difference.
We invite you to make a difference in the life
of someone who is blind or partially sighted
by volunteering just a couple hours a week.
As a Vision Mate, you’ll be matched with
someone with vision loss in your area to help them
with everyday activities like running errands and
going for a walk.
