How you can help UWC
1 . Volunteering – UWC needs volunteers for a variety of things , from feeding and caring for animals , to assisting with fundraising ideas and initiatives , handy types to help with maintenance and nest-box building . Training is provided and duties are determined on a per-need basis . A police check is required , as are tetanus and rabies vaccines .
2 . Donation of Items – URGENT need of items , as listed on the UWC website ( www . urbanwildlifecare . com ) include rubbing alcohol , dish soap , tissues and toilet paper , digital scales , puppy / kitten kibble or canned food , disposable latex gloves and heavy duty gardening gloves , and more specialty items like storage sheds , bins with lids , and large fishing nets . On-going needs include towels , old fur coats , laundry detergent , bowls , pet carriers and aquariums . Stay tuned to Silver & Gold for a list of drop off locations where items will be accepted for delivery to UWC .
3 . Are you handy ? UWC constantly requires squirrel nesting boxes be constructed . Detailed plans are available on the website ( www . urbanwildlifecare . com )
4 . Donations . Even though UWC is registered with the Ministry of Natural Resources , they receive no government funding and therefore rely solely on donations in order to survive . Every penny makes a difference .
