Close to 3,000 (reported) homes were
flooded in Burlington on August 4, 2014.
While homeowners work hard to pick up
the pieces, many are left without assistance,
as insurance companies will not cover
damages unless the flooding was due to
sewer backup (and amounts are limited).
At Silver & Gold, we’d like to do our part
by donating a portion of every sale from our
WISH Booklet to benefit flood victims (see
page 20 for full info).
People can also help by donating to the
Burlington Flood Relief fund by calling
905-635-3138 or through the community
bulletin board (www.burlington.ca/flood),
with assistance organized by the United
Way of Burlington & Hamilton.
The City of Burlington is currently organizing a series of seminars to educate and assist flood victims on
the steps to take moving forward in their path to rebuild after the flood. Please visit Silver & Gold’s website at
www.silvergoldmagazine.ca or through Facebook, in order to keep updated on current initiatives taking place.
We are also looking for flooded basement photographs, for which homeowners may receive payment for.
