Cole’s electrifying martial arts and dance performances immediately riveted me...he shared Bruce’s charisma.” To prepare for rehearsals, Horibe was motivated to take classes in Jeet Kune Do, the form of martial arts PLAY IT FORWARD created and taught by Lee. On taking on the role of an icon in Kung Fu, Horibe remarked, “One could not ask for a better writer than David Henry Hwang to tell this story. Not only is David one of the greatest playwrights of our era and masterful at the art of storytelling, but he has been so thorough in his research and in presenting the most accurate, authentic Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was, and still is, one of my biggest role models, and so to actually get to be him for a short while is simply an honor for which I am extremely grateful.” Visit signaturetheatre.org/donate, buy our tote at the bookstore, or drop a donation in the Play it Forward box in the lobby.
