THE STAGE At Signature, the opportunities for audiences aren’t limited to the productions onstage. The Center also offers a multitude of exciting supplemental programming that take the connection to the production far past the curtain call. From Q&A’s with designers at Backstage Pass to Signature Book Club and Signature Cinema, here are a few favorite moments from the events that entertained audiences this fall. ART OF COLLABORATION SEPTEMBER 11 ART OF COLLABORATION The Old Friends director Michael Wilson discusses his collaboration with Hallie Foote in bringing her father’s plays to life. It’s always great to have Hallie as the anchor. When you’re working on a production…you have to construct it. You have to make it like you would make a house. You have to make it sturdy and give it a foundation. Hallie is always the access point and I think actors who are returning to Horton’s work can bounce themselves off of Hallie or can measure themselves by Hallie’s truth-telling… her being this barometer of truth with his work and his language. Hallie has been very open and excited to new actors bringing their own sensibilities to the plays. What’s great about it is how excited she gets to see actors bring their own kind of vitality and theatricality to Horton’s world and his language and his characters…just the way Horton would get excited. above: Audience members at an event for stop. reset., 2013. left: Beth Whitaker, Hallie Foote, and Michael Wilson at Art of Collaboration, 2013.
