Launched in December 2017, Bright Young Things Take Hackney was open to 2016/2017 graduate artists and designers and to students studying art and design in Europe, including Turkey, Cyprus, Russia, Ukraine and Israel. Entrants were asked to create a high-impact, large-scale display for exterior retail walls. Linea Matei, who was selected as the winner by a panel of expert judges, was there with her family, to see the big reveal of her design on a large outdoor wall located at Bohemia Place in Hackney, London. Matei works with conceptual and illustrative art, textile print design and workshops. Through her work she explores relations, behaviours and cultural norms. Sharing a few words with the Aslan’s self-adhesive film WrapTheHouse DFP 45 was recently used for an artwork by artists Silvia Wienefoet and Ralph Walczyk at the fortress Wilhelmsburg in Ulm, Germany. Its rugged, weather-resistant, residue-free and removable film characteristics made the digitally printable film the ideal solution for the artwork. As part of the project Pop Up Space 2018, the artists laminated the lettering ‘This is mine all mine’ onto the outer wall of the fortress Wilhelmsburg. They ask in a provocative way to whom a public space, a national monument of culture and at least the fortress itself belongs to. And the answer is astonishingly easy: it belongs to every single citizen of the city of Ulm. This is why the project Pop Up Space 2018 acts as a door opener to the 23
