Alexander Weinstein
Assistant Professor of English
Director – Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing
Professors Alexander Weinstein and Erin Zerbe
recently joined forces to create a graphic novel and
comic book workshop. They also are co-teaching
a sequential storytelling class that uses
pop culture for creative inspiration.
In-depth knowledge in their areas of study is one of the
main reasons our graduates succeed. A key element of their
competence is real-world readiness, and it’s present from the
very first semester at Siena.
Sociology majors work with the Boys & Girls Clubs. Art history
students explore the Detroit Institute of Art. Animal behavior
classes go behind the bars at the zoo. Students from every
department work directly with advisors and faculty members to
land the most competitive internships.
Siena students also get real-world experience around the globe.
Our connections to international universities allow you to study
in exciting places like England, China and Dubai. And anyone
at Siena will tell you The Mexico Experience can’t be missed.
Program Director and Spanish Professor Nick Kaplan leads
the language immersion semester, taking students from the
Teotihuacan Pyramids to the Yucatan Peninsula.
The Dominican academic tradition embraces “disputatio,” otherwise
known as good healthy debate in the search for truth. Siena students
often are surprised at how easy it is to express their ideas and
opinions, no matter how spirited. This happens on a daily basis,
including Siena’s annual Common Dialogue Day.
