Current topics and experimental approaches will be emphasized. Journal articles covering a range of disciplines with which students have some familiarity will be read and discussed in depth by the class. Prerequisite: Junior Class Standing, or Permission Course is offered: FA Every Year BIO 396 JUNIOR SEMINAR II 1 During this course students will select their research topic. The course will focus on how to write a project proposal, experimental design, scientific ethics, research statistics, scientific computing, and other topics relevant to particular projects or approaches. Prerequisite: BIO 395 Course is offered: WI Every Year BIO 440 CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY 4 Ultrastructure, composition, function of cells and their organelles, DNA replication, transcription, and translation are covered in depth. The experimental procedures and instruments that are commonly employed in cellular and molecular research are studied.
