I asked John to tell me what type of message he would like to convey to his fans and followers and he responded as follows:

“There was no such thing as a famous dancer when I started. My motivation wasn’t fame, but getting better, personally. This field requires patience, hard work, muscle control, and takes tons of practice. You have to perfect your craft and get crazy about it.”

There are no shortcuts, in John’s opinion. You must be consistent. It is very difficult to get famous through dance, and your motivation must be for the love of dance and not the chance of becoming famous.

John left me with a favorite quote of his..

“Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible.” –Maxwell Maltz

Psycho Cybernetics

He met his future wife, Bris Austin, and moved to El Paso, Texas. He lived there for 7 years and they married in 2011. In 2013, they moved out to Los Angeles as things began to really sky rocket for John’s career.

John has been teaching online for about 10 years now. You can find his Youtube tutorials at Learn2bust.com. A huge “popping” dance influence to John, is a performer named Salah. He teamed up with him to battle in Juste Debout, and has an enormous amount of respect for him. His biggest influence would be a dancer named Wigz. He watched his tapes over and over to learn new moves and techniques. Nowadays, he is influenced by his students and his crew “Soulbiotics”, and keeps it his mission to develop his own style and feel.

Now, with over 350,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel, he has become a dancing sensation! One of his most memorable tours, was the year he was booked for New Year’s Eve in Dubai with Non-Stop. He was not just dancing as back up, but had their own 10 minute slot to themselves. He performed alongside Busta Rhymes and Pharrel Williams, and that was a surreal moment for him to be up there in the line-up with such talent.

Motivations

John is very thankful to his parents, especially his father, for their endless support. He developed much of his healthy habits from them pushing him to pursue a life of fitness and healthy eating. Some of his favorite past times include, swimming, cliff diving, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities. He considers himself extremely driven, positive, and a great problem solver, which goes hand in hand with his dance career.
