a fishing town, began to develop in
the early 20th century as small resort
for wealthier Valletta residents. Their
elegant villas and town houses line the
quieter back streets.
The larger of St. Julian’s two sandy
beaches, St. George’s bay is a rather
small, sandy beach which used to be
just a tiny patch of sand until a decade
ago. Several facilities and beach clubs
are situated on the sides of this wellmanaged bay which has now achieved
blue-flag status.

road from some of the top-class hotels
found in the Paceville district of St.
Julian’s.
This is a beach which is certainly worth
a try if you feel like cooling down
without having to drive a take a bus out
to more “far-out” beaches. . If you’re
out for a drink and feel like hanging
Balluta Bay is a popular recreation
spot used for swimming, diving, and
water sports, with a triangular pjazza
surrounded by cafés and shaded
by Judas trees. .The south shore of
Balluta Bay features Le Méridien St.
