BALL POSITION We get asked this question all the time. Where should the ball position be with an eight iron, sand wedge, a four iron? There are different ways of doing this, but the one way that we like is the constant ball position where the ball position is pretty much in the same place for all of the irons. The way to do this is to get an alignment stick on the ground that is perpendicular 90 degrees to your target. Put your left heel one clubhead length left of the alignment stick. From now on, no matter what, your left heel will be in that position in relation to the ball. Now, as the clubs get longer, all you have to do is drop your right foot further back. So if you have a pitching wedge, your stance will naturally be narrower, and the ball will be about in the middle of your stance. As you move to your 7 iron, your right foot will drop back a little, and the ball will be just ahead of center. As you move towards a 4 or 3 iron, your right foot will drop back a little more, and the ball will be about 2 balls ahead of center. Keeping it this simple by only having to move the right foot back and the ball always being one clubhead inside the left heel is going to give you a consistent base to work form. Work on these 3 iron setup keys, and you will be surprised how much your iron game improves by just implementing these seemingly simple tips. WATCH THE FULL VIDEO HERE
