A - Size 11 seed bead B - Size 15 seed bead

Rivoli: The base is made from peyote stitch. Unless otherwise stated, step up through the first bead added of the current round to begin the next round. Start with approximately 1m of beading thread, single thickness.

Round 1: Pick up 5As, go through all of them again to form a circle. Also go through the first bead again to pull the circle closer together. Leave a tail of 10 - 15cm.

Round 2: Pick up 1A and pass through the next A. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 5As for the round. Remember to step up.

Round 3: Pick up 2As and pass through the next A. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 5 pairs of 2As. Step up only through the first bead of the 2As added.

Round 4: Pick up 1A and pass through the next A, splitting up the pair of As added in the previous round. Pick up another A and pass through the next A (it should be the first bead of the next pair of A beads). Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 10As.

Round 5: Pick up 1A and pass through the next A. Repeat around until you have added a total of 10As.

Round 6: Pick up 3Bs and pass through the next A, creating a picot. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 30Bs. Step up through the first 2Bs of the set of 3Bs added.

Round 7: Pick up 5Bs and pass through the middle bead of the set of 3Bs in the previous round. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 50Bs.

Round 8: Pick up 1 crystal and pass through the middle (3rd) bead of the set of 5Bs in the previous round. Repeat around the circle until you have added 10 crystals. Place your rivoli in the middle. The fit may seem a little loose. Go through the crystals and pull to secure the rivoli. Reinforce through the crystals a few times until secure. Exit through the middle bead of a set of 3Bs in Round 6. You will now start to embellish the rivoli.

Embellishment round 1: Pick up 1B, 1 crystal and 1B, and go through the next middle bead of the set of 3B beads. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 10 crystals. Your thread should be exiting through a middle B of a set of 3Bs in Round 6.

Embellishment round 2: Pick up 1B, skip the next B, and pass through the crystal added in Embellishment round 1. Pick up another B, skip the next B, and pass through the middle B of the set of 3Bs in Round 6. Repeat around the circle until you have added a total of 20Bs. Secure both thread ends and trim.

Ring Band: 1) The band is made from brick stitch and embellishing with a simple fringe. Start with 1.5m of thread. Pick up 2Bs and go up through the first bead again, leaving a 30cm tail. Go down through the 2nd bead and up through the first bead again. Your two beads should sit side-by-side.

2) Pick up 1B and go down through the previous bead and up through the bead just picked up. Repeat until you have 6Bs sitting side-by-side. Your thread should be exiting the last bead on the row.

3) Pick up 2Bs and go under the thread connecting the 2 end beads of the ladder stitch base. You may need to hold on to your tail thread to keep the beads from loosening. Pull snugly. Then go up the 2nd of the 2Bs just strung. The beads should sit on top of your ladder stitch base.

4) Pick up 1B and go under the thread connecting the next 2 beads of your ladder stitch base. Then go up the same bead just added. Repeat until you have added 6Bs to this row.

5) Keep building the rows using brick stitch until you reach your desired length to fit around your finger. A good length is about 4.5 - 5cm. Remember to factor in an additional 1cm for the riovli when determining the final length of your band.

6) Once your length is reached, weave the thread so that your needle exits from an up bead, in the direction of the rest of the band. Pick up 3As, skip the next up B bead, and go through the following up B bead.

7) Repeat all the way down the band and on the other side. As the ends of the band will connect to the rivoli do not worry if you have extra up beads there that have no fringe.

Attaching the band to the rivoli: This is done by a simple weave between the 2 components.

1) Your thread should be exiting through the corner bead of the last row of the band. Go down through an A on Round 3 of the rivoli (if you find that your beads are a bit tight, go through an A on Round 4 instead. Adjust the following instructions accordingly). Then go up through the 2nd B of the band. Come back down through the 3rd B bead of the band.

2) Go through the next A on Round 2 of the rivoli. Then go up through the 4th B of the band and come back down through the 5th B of the band. Go through the next A of Round 3 of the rivoli, and up through the last B of the band.

3) Reinforce this thread path. Secure your working thread and trim. Repeat on the other side with your tail thread. Secure and trim.
