holidays? Let me give you some tips that will help you prevent, man-
age and reverse depression Holistically Spirit, Mind and Body.
1. Spiritually
• Understand that the real purpose of the holidays are reflect on
your blessing and appreciate your life, family and God-given pur-
pose. Christmas reminds us we are God’s most valuable posses-
sion. Why? Because he gave his only begotten Son to die for us
so we can have eternal life.
• Avoid using the holidays to resolve conflicts with family mem-
bers or close friends. Practice forgiveness all the time. Let go and
allow God to direct you in situations that you can’t resolve. It
helps you lift the weight of guilt and anger off your shoulders so
you can enjoy yourself during the holidays.
• Start a gratefulness journal where you will write every morning
3 things you appreciate. In the evening, write one (1) thing that
happen during the day made you grateful. This will make you
mindful of how fortunate you are and change your outlook. You
will gain a positive perspective during the holidays instead of
focusing on what you don’t have.
• Volunteering your time to help others in need will increase your
sense of gratitude and fulfillment. Feeding the homeless on
Thanksgiving, buying a toy for a child in need, or adopting a
single parent family for the holidays enables you to serve others
while expressing your gratitude towards others.
2. Mind
• Keep your stress levels at a minimum by establishing a simple
and realistic set of Holidays expectations. Identify early on where
and with whom you are going to spend your time with for the
holidays. Are you celebrating with family, friends, church mem-
bers or coworkers? Will you volunteer your time to make the
holiday bright for those in need?
• Create a realistic budget, so you don’t get into debt. Instead of
buying expensive gifts, make your own such as, jewelry, crafts or
