How to Represent Christ in the Workplace

T
oday's work environment is not just a
trip, it’s a journey! Truly. There is so
much stuff going on that complicates
effective navigation for the typical worker. This
can be especially tricky for Christians. Despite
the challenges that seem to continually erupt, it
is entirely possible for Christians to work in a
way that glorifies God and also provides a
model for others on how to do so.
There are many areas that we can focus on in
the workplace that correlate with scripture.
Let's explore some of them below:
WORK ETHIC
I have worked in corporate America for 20
years. I've seen and heard a lot. There is a lot of
hyperbole in the workplace. One of the most
common areas concerns work ethic. It is very
rare to encounter a person who feels that they
do not have a good work ethic.

as opposed to comparing themselves to a defined standard. Christians are offered standards in the Bible. Colossians 3:23 says, "Whatever you do, work heartily,
as for the Lord and not for men" (English Standard Version). This is a critical scripture that
many of us forget in the heat of the typical
workday. I certainly have.
It is so easy to get so caught up in office politics
or in achieving the goals of the organization.
While there is certainly nothing wrong with
being aware of those things, they are never
