She is a co- founder of Safe Space a mobile application to help with sexual assault and prevention. I had the pleasure of meeting her at the Social Startup Courtney Dansby, Weekend in Detroit, MI. Safe Space Co-Founder Her team won the Startup Weekend first place prize, which is an international event to connect entrepreneurs to create a startup company in 3 days. She had a warm and inviting personality. You would never guess she was a former victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse and domestic violence. Her countenance was bright and filled with optimism. Below is the insightful interview I had with Ms. Dansby. SNM: How were you able to overcome domestic violence, sexual assault and sexual abuse to achieve the things that you've achieved today? CD: I think the biggest thing that really helped me out was having a support system of friends and family. Another thing was getting back into my spiritual life. I had lost it for a couple years and getting back into that really gave me my sense of purpose of why I'm here on the earth. I'm here to continue and that my time is not over. Also, being in school and focusing bettering myself helped me to continue my education. SNM: What were you able to do to reconnect with God? CD: Fortunately, I have a cousin who is a pastor here in Michigan. Being able to talk to him as a cousin, but also as a pastor helped me out. I also have a lot of friends that are spiritual.
