“
Now you become the topic
of everyone’s conversation.
They do not look at you the
same.
“
eath is never an
easy topic to discuss.
So, when someone
brings up suicide, I am
at a loss for words. We
hear about people
who died by suicide
from their loved ones.
Talented, beautiful
and full of promise,
many die without
warning. The are from
diverse backgrounds
and faiths. Suicide
impacts thousands of
Americans each year.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)
states, "For every death by suicide, there is an average of 25
attempts." According to their website, women are three
times more likely to attempt suicide than men.
In 2014, the United States had 42,773 deaths by suicide. You
do the math. Yet, you seldom hear from the ones who
survived suicide. Although they lived, do they feel
empowered to speak their truth? Or, are they still suffering
alone in silence?
Ms. LaToya Rose, is a book, business, and money coach,
who survived suicide. Also known as the wealth connector,
she is an author and speaks about her ordeal. She states,
“Suicide is an abrupt and spontaneous thing. It is dramatic
and you don’t have time to leave a note. You say to
yourself, ‘This is it!’”
