Good Shepherd, Chadstone

In the '80s Sacred Heart had split campuses to accommodate all students. The junior campus was at the Good Shepherd Convent, a location that is better known today as Chadstone shopping centre. By 1983 both campuses were joined at the Oakleigh campus. Below is a student's poetic reflection of her time at the Junior campus:

A century ago in a building so tall

Lived orphans and children not wanted at all;

They grew up and lived till the end of their days

In a building which gradually is crumbling away.

But now things are different as laughter is heard,

Ringing down lighted corridors, outside the chatter of birds.

Flowers are blooming, down the paths where we walk -

The place is alive with the sounds of our talk.

When we do leave, the ghost will come out,

Roaming the rooms where we once used to shout,

The silence will float up the stairs, down the halls.

As loneliness will envelop the crumbling walls.
