Weiss-Johnson Celebrating 40 Years

Robert Weiss and Donald Johnson began Weiss- Johnson Sheet Metal Ltd . in 1977 with nothing more than a pick-up truck , a box of business cards and a bank loan . They knocked on doors and stapled business cards to partially built homes in the booming Edmonton neighbourhood of Mill Woods . Parts and supplies were stored in Bob ’ s basement and later in his garage while the office was housed in Don ’ s home .

After outgrowing these spaces , Weiss-Johnson moved to a rented bay in 1980 where it remained until 1996 . During this time the company had its ups and downs , but continued to grow and build a reputation for quality work at fair prices .
Steady growth through the years pointed to the need for more space , and in 1996 Weiss-Johnson had its first building constructed at 8821 60th Ave ., where additions and renovations continued as the company grew even larger . In 2007 , Bob and his son , Steven , left the company and Don decided it was time to turn things over to his sons , Dennis and Mark . With the building bursting at the seams , no place to park the 50 to 60 vehicles , and the service , commercial HVAC and retro divisions housed down the street in a rented bay commonly referred to as the Cabbage Patch , Mark and Dennis decided it was time to look at putting everyone under the same roof .
With great excitement and some anxiety of course , Mark and Dennis purchased a vacant piece of land at 5803 Roper Rd . in January 2011 . After a year and a half of design and construction , Weiss-Johnson opened its newest and largest facility . At over 23,000 square feet , Weiss-Johnson finally had a home where it could have a showroom to showcase the many different options that are available to keep a home more comfortable . Home builders often visit the showroom for training sessions to learn about the different furnace options , air conditioners , garage heaters , HRVs , humidifiers and thermo-
