is a wife, a mama, and the founder of Tenacious
Grace – a ministry born out of her own personal
story with Jesus. As a writer and speaker, Cookie is most passionate about reaching hurting
people with the message of Truth, strength, and
hope — which led her to join the Florence County Detention Center Ministry Team, where she
now spends Sunday mornings teaching, praying, and connecting with female inmates. She

is a business professor at Francis Marion University. She consults for businesses in the areas of
marketing, sales and business strategy, and is

native of Olanta, SC is a graduate of Winthrop
University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in
Dance Performance and English Writing. She
is currently attending Queens University to
obtain her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction Writing. When she isn’t dreaming about
a plantation home in the Carolina countryside,
she can be found writing Southern regionalist
fiction.

now busies herself staring wistfully at empty
boxes waiting to be filled with the treasures of
her past and present. Decision-making continues to be a struggle, but the figs have turned
to jam rather quickly. And this points to yet another season of change - for better or worse, for
richer or poorer, in sickness and in health - with
the promise of many more words to be share
from “down on the farm.”

grew up in New York, New Jersey and New
Hampshire. Married at 19, she moved to Rhode
Island where she and her husband raised their
seven kids. Kathy and her husband now have 12
grandchildren. They moved to Florence when
they retired and love living here.
lives in the outskirts of Fork in Dillon, South
Carolina. She is a homemaker and babysitter.
She and her husband, James, have three sons:
James Albert, Joshua (wife, Amy; son, Nathan),
and Jacob (wife, Sarah; sons, Philip Bryen and
Bannen; daughter, Truly).
