It was to involve a waterfall and a river edge-like large pond in the lobby of a building I was working on. Shaw & Sons quickly put together a highly talented design team with Fong Hart Schneider Partners landscape architects, that helped to refine the handsome design for the atrium. “I was impressed by Shaw & Son’s research team, who supported the material selections, such as granite and gravel and how they would be used. A number of samples were made-up for the design team’s review. The research team explored color, saw cutting technique, plus the shapes and textures to be used on the concrete, a process I have never experienced before. I was amazed to find out that Shaw & Son’s expertise also extended to the wooden railing; the design material color and the application, added to create a greater ambience. “The centerpiece boulder fountain is the true focal point of the lobby. It is a work of art that is esthetically appealing to the senses.” Nick Adachi, Project Architect Nick Adachi Architects
