SHAW & SONS’ DECK-POUR SYSTEM
Shaw & Sons’ deck-pour system utilizes a saddle over a post
that can quickly slide over a nelson stud to facilitate a screed for
metal deck placing of concrete on multi-story buildings. This
system automatically gauges the proper thickness and enables
the rodmen to quickly strike off without having to go back to
adjust thicknesses. By using this system, Shaw & Sons has
accomplished large metal deck pours of 500 cubic yards in well
under six hours. Shaw & Sons benefits by using less overtime
and no repairs; owners benefit by lower cost for installation and
proven flatter floors, free of grinding or floor fillers. The structural engineer receives a building with proper deck yield thickness that is not grossly over- or under-loaded. Shaw & Sons deck
pour system is covered by two US patents: #5,301,485 and
#5,212,919

SEISMIC RETROFIT
Shaw & Son’s deck and beam retrofit is a construction
method to strengthen concrete beams to concrete decks.The
system forms a continuous linear bore through the deck and

Shaw & Sons recently completed seismic retrofitting of two
9-story buildings utilizing aerospace-style technology to double
the ductile strength of the existing columns.The company used
